Periodontics in Kamsack

Periodontics

Gum disease can occur without symptoms. If it’s not treated, gum disease can lead to tooth loss, chronic bad breath, and damage to your gums. Gum disease has also been linked to health conditions such as heart disease. We provide periodontal services to prevent and treat gum disease and related conditions.

Scaling and root planing

Tartar buildup and rough areas on the roots of your teeth can irritate your gums and lead to infection. We remove the irritation by removing tartar and smoothing the root with special tools.

Tooth extraction

Infection or injury can make it necessary to extract a tooth. Extractions are performed as painlessly as possible and we’ll help you decide on replacement options.

Ridge/Socket preservation

After a tooth is extracted the remaining socket in your jaw can collapse. This can cause other teeth to shift or the bone tissue surrounding the socket to deteriorate. We prevent this by filling the socket.

Ridge augmentation

Your gums and bones form a structure called the alveolar ridge. This ridge can break down if you lose teeth and the sockets aren’t preserved. We can rebuild the ridge using tissue grafts.

Sinus augmentation

When we need to place a dental implant in the upper jaw, there is sometimes not enough bone tissue to support the implant. We can graft bone tissue into the area to build up the bone mass enough to place the implant.

Bone grafts

When bone tissue has been lost or damage we can use bone grafts to build up the area and repair the damage. Grafts are done with donor bone tissue that integrates into your natural bone.

Pocket depth reduction

Tiny pockets can form around the base of your teeth. Sometimes these pockets can trap food debris and bacteria begin to grow. To keep this from happening, we reduce the depth of the pockets.

Flap procedures

A flap procedure is used any time we need to treat the areas beneath your gums. We do this by opening a tiny flap of gum tissue. After the treatment is complete we close the flap with sutures.

Frenectomy

A frenectomy is the removal of connective tissues within your mouth, such as the tissue connecting your lips to your gums. Sometimes this connective tissue is too tight and it can cause discomfort.

Crown lengthening

Sometimes we need to lengthen the crown of one or more teeth. We do this by removing gum tissue from around the base of the tooth. Crown lengthening is used for cosmetic purposes and also to prepare a tooth for restoration with a crown.

Gum infections can cause soreness and bleeding gums. To book an examination or if you have any questions, contact our office today.
